Are Airlines Required to Compensate for Delayed Flights?

Last updated on April 24, 2023

Airlines are not legally required to compensate passengers if the delay of a flight is caused by things outside of the airline's control, such as bad weather. However, if the delay is due to problems within the airline's control, they may be required to compensate the affected passengers. This often depends on the regulation of the country an airline is operating in, as well as other individual factors.
