If your flight is delayed, you are entitled to certain rights under the European Union Denied Boarding Regulation. These include compensation for the delay and help with meals, refreshments, hotel accommodation, transport between the hotel and the airport, and telephone calls. You may also be able to claim for the time and cost of getting to the final destination if it is delayed significantly. Airlines may also offer you a refund or alternative flight.
