When does an airline have to compensate you for delays?

Last updated on April 24, 2023

An airline has to compensate its passengers when flights are delayed for more than 3 hours, when flights are cancelled without prior notification, and when passengers are denied boarding due to oversales. Compensation usually includes a full refund of the ticket cost and/or a voucher for a flight alternative. Passengers should check the airline's individual policy and the laws of their country to see what compensation they may be entitled to.
