How much wind must there be before flights are cancelled?

Last updated on April 25, 2023

It depends on the airport and the type of plane. Generally, airports will cancel flights if the sustained wind speed is greater than 31mph (50 km/h). The actual limit for each airport and type of plane may vary depending on weather and safety conditions.
