Why are the airlines cancelling so many flights?

Last updated on April 25, 2023

The airlines are canceling flights due to a decrease in demand as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Many countries have imposed travel restrictions, and with fewer people able to take flights, there is much reduced demand. Furthermore, many airlines are trying to reduce costs by moving to a lower frequency of flights, meaning they are consolidating the number of flights they are operating. This means they are canceling flights in order to cut costs, while still meeting the demand of the public.
