- Why did Spirit cancel flights today?
Today, Spirit Airlines cancelled multiple flights due to a shortage of pilots who are needed to operate their flights. This is the result of pilots taking advantage of the airline's and the FAA's temporary deadline extensions for certain recertification requirements; leading to some pilots becoming unable to meet these requirements in time and therefore causing a shortage.
