Why is United cancelling flights?

Last updated on April 25, 2023

United is cancelling flights due to an unprecedented global crisis resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. As many major countries have closed border restrictions and nonessential business operations, air travel has been dramatically reduced. This has caused a sharp reduction in demand for air travel, resulting in airlines having to drastically reduce their flight schedules. United is responding by cancelling flights in order to limit the impact of their decreased operations and mitigate some of the lost revenue.
