When do flights cancel due to weather?

Last updated on April 25, 2023

Flights are usually cancelled due to bad weather conditions, such as strong winds, heavy rain or snow, fog, or other hazardous conditions. In general, airlines will only cancel flights if weather conditions are so bad that it is not safe to take off or land. For example, flights could be cancelled if visibility is too low, or if there is a risk of lightning strikes.
