- When do they usually cancel flights?
Flights can be cancelled for a variety of reasons, from reasonable forces of nature to unexpected circumstances. Flight cancellations usually occur due to weather issues, air traffic control delays, mechanical or technical issues, or a high level of demand for the flight. For safety reasons, airlines may also cancel a flight if there is not an adequate number of crew members available to operate it. Flight cancellations can be a major inconvenience to travelers, so airlines may also attempt to find alternate flights or issue vouchers for future travel.
