- When do airlines cancel flights?
Airlines may cancel flights for a variety of reasons, including inclement weather, operational issues, and safety concerns. They may also cancel flights due to an aircraft being removed from service, or schedule changes. Typically, airlines will provide notification of flight cancellations no less than 2 hours prior to the departure time. If the cancellation is due to factors outside of the airline’s control, passengers may be entitled to a refund or rebooking.
