Why are flights getting canceled?

Last updated on April 25, 2023

Flights may be canceled due to a variety of reasons, such as air traffic control delays, mechanical issues, inclement weather, or government regulations. Airline companies must cancel flights when safety is an issue, or if they feel they cannot provide satisfactory service in these conditions. On some occasions, airlines may cancel flights due to overbooking, a situation when a flight cannot accommodate all its pre-booked passengers. In other cases, canceled flights may be rescheduled or refunded by the airline.
