Why do flights get cancelled?

Last updated on April 25, 2023

Flights get cancelled for a variety of reasons, including poor weather conditions, mechanical issues with the plane, labor conflicts, air traffic control delays, and even medical emergencies. Unforeseen changes in a flight's scheduled route or mandatory federal regulations may also require a flight to be cancelled. Additionally, airlines may cancel flights if they are not able to fill a plane with a certain number of passengers.
