Last updated on April 25, 2023

In extreme weather conditions, airlines will be forced to cancel flights due to risks to passengers and crew. Conditions can include high winds, severe storms, snow, freezing temperatures and icy runways. Additionally, ground conditions such as runway maintenance and flooding can also cause airline cancellations. Airlines strive to provide safe travel, meaning if conditions are too dangerous, flights will be canceled to ensure the safety of everyone onboard.
